Colors
To create my own color palette, I started off by playing around with colors that I liked and painting brush strokes with them in Photoshop. Afterwards, I used the pixelate feature to get a clear view of the mixed colors, as shown on the left below. The final color palette I arrived at is shown on the right. I tried to keep in mind the complementary and triadic relationships between the colors; I also wanted the yellow to serve as an accent color.
Below are my six compositions that utilize my color palette. I like to capture interesting lights and shadows from everyday life, and I realized that I’ve taken similar photos on my phone both in NYC and Seattle. Stemming from that idea, I wanted my compositions to embody my experiences in both places through signages or other symbols I noticed while walking the streets. The top row represents my experience since moving to NYC a month ago; the bottom row represents the shadows of my past life in Seattle.
